wookiemonsterHrm... Had a little trouble logging on with Semagic... I figure there's a lot of traffic on the interwebs, what with the hurricane and all, or maybe the internets are starting to have a few strands cut from aforementioned hurricane, or the Russkies playing political games are at it again...
ANYway, just some rain so far. The storm's not supposed to hit hard until around 5 or 6. I'm thinking I might go for a quick outing before I get locked in, so to speak, and start developing cabin fever. Batteries and devices are charged. Candles and such are on stand-by. IF we have to evacuate, I figure Yoda will get one of the cat carriers, Bonnie and Clyde's cage can still fit into a car, and I'll keep Rocky on a harness leash, with the other furkids in carriers (I only have one carrier per cat, and if a parrot needs to be in one...). Good to go.
I'm leaving this post open, in case anyone local needs info. WDEL has a list of Red Cross shelters in the area. Note the ones that are pet-friendly. The News-Journal also urges people to include pets in emergency preparations.
FEMA has also released this statement:
"As Hurricane Irene prepares to batter the East Coast, federal disaster officials warn that Internet outages could force people to interact with other people for the first time in years. Residents are bracing themselves for the horror of awkward silences and unwanted eye contact. FEMA advises: Be prepared. Write down possible topics to talk about in advance. Broadway shows, sports, the weather. Remember, a conversation is basically a series of Facebook updates strung together."

As my brain cells tend to commit suicide when watching Jersey Shore, or most other popular shows these days, I...just don't watch all that much TV, really...
